Books for a Buck was founded by Carol Carpenter, for one simple reason…to raise money for charity. Cheerful volunteers man a booth at the local Green Market and sell Books for a Buck. All of the books that are sold are donated and 60% of the proceeds from the sales go directly to the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. In our first season, we operated only one Sunday per month and raised over $2000. In the 2010 season, we expanded our effort to include two booth spaces and sell our books every week! Community Acceptance was overwhelming. Books for a Buck serves a great community need, as well as economical. And, since many of our visitors return their books for donation after they’ve read them, we are serving a recyling need as well. The Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition has applauded our effort to promote literacy and education.
